Allison Izu Kolohe Capris (and 442 McAdam's Hobette Bag)

and from the other side...

Top: Elie Tahari (I think this was S/S 2009)
Capris: Allison Izu (size 24/00)
Bag: 442 McAdam (Hobette - F/W 2010)

My Allison Izu Kolohe Capris have arrived! They're lower rise pants (the "waist" is right at the hip bone) and fall a couple of inches below the knee. I think they're a great length, especially if worn with heels. Petites who want to wear capris should be very careful with length - this is probably as long as you should go, and even then, it's better to pair them with height. They're also so light-weight that they could be worn in the summer (I don't often wear denim in July and August because it's too hot). I've worn Allison's jeans before, but these are the first which fit well. In this purchase, I also got a denim skirt, which I will review at a later date.  The capris are currently on sale for $49 US (down from $142).

As noted above, the bag featured above is called the Hobette, part of 442 McAdam's Fall/Winter 2010 collection.  This bag is AMAZING for petite women, with the widest point at under 11" across.  It is also fairly lightweight, even with the metal chain.  This is a change from the company's previous collections which featured very large bags.  You can read more about 442 McAdam's fall/winter collection in this post from Prospere Magazine.

Standing up...

Outfit same as above (minus purse)
Shoes: Chie Mihara, size 5

and how it fits on the "waist" (ok, hips)

In case you aren't familiar with Allison Izu Premium denim, this is a line based out of Hawaii which targets women 5'6" and below. Regular length denim come in 27" and 31" inseams. Yes, that's right, if you're petite or average height, you won't need to alter your jeans anymore!

Bebe Now Sells Petites!!!

...but it is online-only.  I haven't shopped at Bebe in a while, but I know that they did sell petite pants in stores a couple of years ago.  The good news is that Bebe ships internationally, so those of us who're outside of the US can purchase the full line.

There isn't that much selection right now - just some jackets and pants (both work and denim), but I hope it would expand to include other items later.

Southwest Airlines Boots Thin Flier For Extra Seats

Looks like you can't be too big OR too small if you want to fly Southwest! What's really interesting is that I really doubt that this piece will get the press that the Kevin Smith situation would. Not only because this woman is not a celeb, but also because she's well, small.

Toronto Stuart Weitzman Store Update

Got a lovely note from the Stuart Weitzman Facebook Page: "The Toronto store is set to open by August 20th!"

Yay! This store will have more selection than at Holt Renfrew or at Brown's, apparently!

Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz In London: How Is He So Tall? (PHOTOS)

Cameron's knees are bent in some of these pictures. That, combined with inside lifts for Tom probably makes them look almost equal in height! Question: How come the media never comment on shorter WOMEN? There are TONS of actresses who are around 5'2", yet no one really says how they're on the short side (nor do they ask who helps them with clothing fit. I think stylists should get some love too, no?)...

Crystal Renn: We Need To Call All Models Just 'Models' (VIDEO)

I am glad Crystal is speaking about this. All we need is for someone who is short to speak out about height issues! C'mon short celebs, talk about it! It's not like anyone's going to listen to a blogger from Toronto! I actually think people are sick of me ranting (that is, if they even watch my YouTube vids at all or read my blog).

Good Fit, Clothing and the Movie Set

Alterations Needed just posted an article on Ellen Page's ill-fitting suit in the movie Inception.  In particular, AN was very critical of the jacket, which was completely out of proportion for the 5'1" Miss Page (bust was too tight, lapel was not flat and the collar was too big).  The question here is: Where was wardrobe?  Why didn't they get something which actually fit Ellen?  And here I thought that wardrobe was supposed to know what fits properly!  This is definitely a case which supports the fact that alterations don't always work (so THERE, people who think that!!!)  Seriously, Wardrobe should have done something about this.  Maybe even tuck, tape or pin something down.  Also, wouldn't Ellen have had some sort of fitting before the shoot?  I wonder why they didn't catch the issue then!

What do you think?
