BCBG XXS and Size 5 Nine West Shoes

The BCBG dress (in XXS) was probably from Spring/Summer 2009, as I found it at an outlet store recently. XXS seems to be shorter than XS, even in regular sizes. It's too bad that petite BCBG dresses are sooooo difficult to find. They're not available in their boutiques, and only in a limited number of department stores in the US (petite BCBG is unavailable in Canada). I actually think they're disappearing, since there weren't any at Bloomingdales the last time I was in Manhattan. The shoes are also from the outlet mall - a size 5 pair of "PTFASHNING" in bronze (that's what the box said) from Nine West.

My New Shoes

Shoes from Chie Mihara

The white thing on top (on the left shoe) is called a "halter." It helps keep my feet in!

I went shoe shopping yesterday and bought a pair of Chie Mihara shoes. Her shoes were still a tad bit big on me (due to my narrow feet - at least the guy at the store said my feet were narrow. I always thought that they were normal in front, but skinny at the back), so I not only got insoles for them, but also "halters" - stickers which go on top of the shoe to prevent my feet from slipping out. These shoes are great, and I can't wait to wear them when the weather gets warmer!

Who Alters Lingerie?

Tried going lingerie shopping at a boutique today. There were soooooo few 30 bands that they gave me 32 bands to try. Since 32 is a tad bit too big for me, they suggested that I alter them. Who does this? Also, why is it that 30 bands are more common in Europe (including the UK) but next to impossible to find here?

*ANGRY*

Many Would Enter Petite Model Search

Last month, we asked you: Bella Petite Magazine is looking for models 5'5" or shorter for their publication. Will you enter?

42% said that they'd enter, since it would give some attention to non-celeb petites

7% said that they might, but would need to think about it first

14% said that they wouldn't, since they aren't "modelling" types

7% wondered what kind of clothing these ladies would model (ummm, PETITE SIZED CLOTHING, SILLY!!!! What else would they be modelling?)

21% had no idea what Bella Petite magazine was.

Exactly why we are having issues...

I posted a message on the wall of someone related to the fashion industry about petites and body image. I've received a few replies including comments about how we aren't ostricized like women of size, etc and even going as far as saying that being short isn't a "body image" issue and that we don't "suffer" for being short. What do you think? Would you agree with that person? Do you think that's the reason why no one takes us seriously?

Fashion industry and size

A recent New York Times article mentioned the fact that model Coco Rocha is being booked less this season because she is now a size four and considered "too fat" by industry standards. WTF!!!! Really, it's up to the designers to make changes. We can complain all we want, but there won't be any changes unless the designers change.

Note: A similar post (with this very video) is up in Prospere Magazine as well.

Update: Coco Rocha has a post about this very topic

Petite Bollywood Actress Rocks the Runway in Archana Kockhar

According to Bella Petite, Bollywood actress, Minnisha Lamba is only 5'1". Though Minnisha rocks the dress (designed by Archana Kochar, who is 5 feet even), would she be modelling if she weren't an actress?

Does this sweater look big?

A sales lady at Banana said that the sweater was a tad bit big on me. You be the judge.
